The 555th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji was celebrated with much pomp and show on 15 November. Many events were organized in the district regarding the birth anniversary. The biggest event was organized in the city’s Gurudwara Gurunanak Darbar. After preparations going on for the last several days, big events started from Friday morning itself.
Gurunanak Jayanti was celebrated with great pomp at Gurudwara Shri Gurunanak Darbar Aligarh Road. Religious events have been going on in the Gurudwara for the last several days. Prabhat Pheri was being organized every day. On 15th November also, a grand Prabhat Pheri was taken out at 5 am. In Prabhat Pheri, the Sangat along with Panch Pyaras sang the praises of Guru Nanak Ji.
After this, a program was organized in the Gurudwara of Nehru Colony of the city. Shabad Kirtan was organized in Gurunanak Darbar throughout the day. Unbroken langar was also served. It was told that Guru Nanak Devji was born on the full moon day of Kartik at Talwandi Nanakdev Sahib in Pakistan. Gurudwara’s chief granthi Giani Harpal Singh and Nanak Singh enthralled the congregation by performing kirtan.
